Pour Point of Petroleum Products
We perform the pour point test by ASTM D97 to determine the lowest temperature at which the sample will flow or move. The pour point of a petroleum specimen is an index of the lowest temperature of its utility for certain applications. The sample is heated and then cooled at a specified rate and examined at intervals of 3C for flow characteristics.
We also perform pour point testing by ASTM D5949, DIN 51597, IP 15, and ISO 3016. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
