When clients partner with SPL, they trust us with critical parts of their process: accurate, defensible data that supports safe operations, regulatory compliance, and sound business decisions. While advanced technology and proven processes matter, the real foundation of quality measurement is our people.

One of those people is Matt Williams, an Energy Measurement Technician based out of our Meno, Oklahoma office. Matt’s journey reflects both the grit of the energy industry and the culture of continuous learning that defines SPL.
From the Oilfield to Measurement Excellence
At 18-years-old, Matt Williams wasn’t sitting in a lecture hall. He was gaining hands-on experience on drilling rigs and with pressure testing operations. Matt grew up in Oklahoma and began working in the oilfield immediately after high school. His early career included frac iron recertification, natural gas compression support, and drilling activities that exposed him to the complexity of energy systems long before he ever stepped into measurement work.
That exposure sparked a deeper curiosity. Matt wanted to understand not just how energy moves, but how it is measured, verified, and trusted. He joined SPL in 2024 and began building expertise across both liquid and gas measurement systems.
Today, Matt continues to grow his technical skill set while learning the nuances that separate basic data collection from truly reliable measurement.
Why Measurement Quality Starts in the Field
As a Measurement Technician, Matt supports field activities that directly impact data accuracy. Every reading, every verification, and every procedure feeds into the data our clients rely on for custody transfer, compliance, and operational insight.
At SPL, technicians are trained to understand the bigger picture. Measurement is not just about running equipment. It is about precision, consistency, and accountability. That mindset is reinforced through strong training, layered data review processes, and a team environment where quality is everyone’s responsibility.
Matt’s manager, Tim Lebsack, points to Matt’s steady approach and attention to detail as examples of what SPL looks for in its field teams.
“Matt has a willingness to learn and pride in delivering accurate results,” Mr. Lebsack shared.
Culture That Supports People and Performance
SPL’s culture is built around teamwork, safety, and doing things the right way. Field technicians are supported by experienced leadership, technical experts, and a broader organization that understands how critical their role is.
That culture benefits both clients and employees. Clients receive data they can trust, backed by people who care deeply about accuracy. Employees gain a career path that values growth, learning, and long-term development.
Matt’s experience reflects that balance. He continues to expand his skills while contributing meaningfully to projects that matter.
Life Outside the Job
Outside of work, Matt stays connected to the outdoors. He enjoys hunting and fishing and has participated in bass fishing tournaments across Oklahoma and Arkansas. A lifelong Oklahoma resident, he values time outside and follows Alabama football, staying rooted in the interests he grew up with.
The People Behind the Results
Measurement data is only as good as the people behind it. At SPL, technicians like Matt Williams are essential to delivering accurate data for our clients every day.
He is one of the many faces behind the data at SPL: the boots on the ground who bring a lifetime of industry experience to every field site. We’re proud to have Matt on our team, ensuring that when our clients look at their results, they see the truth.Want to see how the people behind the data can move your business forward?
