We’re proud to spotlight Keith Marburger, our Facilities Manager for Operational Excellence whose hands-on background and operational mindset deliver on the high stakes of environmental testing.
From Field to Front Office
Keith’s foundation began in the field, learning and adapting in real-world situations. In his first five years as an Environmental consultant, he conducted fisheries studies, wildlife surveys, sediment sampling at Superfund sites, and groundwater sampling, often in challenging, remote conditions across the US.
This boots-on-the-ground approach has allowed Keith to evolve alongside the company to serve as a key leader on our Environmental Team where he uses his experience to design and operate the labs that process those very samples.
Process and Precision
Now 8.5 years into his career at SPL, Keith is known for being a great problem-solver. He began as the Inorganics and Microbiology Supervisor, later moving into a Process Engineer role focused on process improvements, facilities upgrades, and growth planning. Further strengthening operational efficiency efforts, Keith earned his Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
Today, he serves as Facilities Manager for Operational Excellence, working across SPL labs to prepare for growth and improve bottom-line performance. Among his proudest accomplishments are helping design and operate the Reading PFAS Lab and the State College Labs.
His team members think of him as an invaluable asset they can’t live without. Recently, an environmental lab manager asked “Can we have a ‘Keith’ at every location?”
Life Beyond the Lab
What he values most is the shared vision and collaboration across SPL, and the real impact the team’s work has on public health.
When Keith isn’t optimizing operations, he stays active outdoors – whether he’s on the golf course, mastering the smoker, or cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles.
