Fuels & Lubricants Testing Capabilities

ASTM D2273 (Trace Sediment)

April 5, 2024

We perform lubricants quality and conformance testing by ASTM D2273 to determine trace amounts (less than 0.05 volume %) of sediment in lubricating oils. Excessive amounts of sediment in oil can lead to system malfunction in some applications. This test measures the trace level amount of sediment that is naptha-insoluble and can be separated by centrifuging.

Sample quantity required: 250 ml

We also perform sediment testing by ASTM D2709, ASTM D473, ASTM D4176, and ASTM D1796. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.

Contact us today to receive a quote for your lubricating oil testing.
