We perform grease quality testing by ASTM D2509 to determine the load-carrying capacity of lubricating greases using the Timken Extreme Pressure Tester. Also called Extreme Pressure or EP, this test measures a lubricating grease’s ability to prevent damage to metal surfaces that rub together under high-stress operating conditions.
