We perform testing by ASTM D482 to measure the ash-forming materials in gas turbine fuels, crude oils, lubricating oils, and other petroleum products. Measuring the ash-forming material present in a petroleum product can provide information as to whether or not the product is suitable for use in a given application. Ash can result from contamination such as oil or water-soluble metallic compounds or from solids such as dirt and rust. ASTM D482 applies to distillate and residual fuels, gas turbine fuels, crude oils, lubricating oils, waxes, and other petroleum products, in which any ash-forming materials present are normally considered to be undesirable impurities or contaminants.
We also perform ash testing by ASTM D874, ASTM E2403, DIN 51575, IP 4, and ISO 6245. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
Sample quantity required: 200 ml
ASTM D482 corresponds to ISO 6245 and IP 4.
