We perform the BOCLE test by ASTM D5001 to assess the wear aspects of the boundary lubrication properties of aviation turbine fuels on rubbing steel surfaces. A lack of lubricity in aviation fuel can cause wear due to excessive friction resulting in shortened life of engine components such as fuel pumps and fuel controls.
