We perform testing by ASTM D56 to measure the lowest temperature at which jet fuel vaporizes to form an ignitable mixture; this is called the flash point. This test is useful for measuring the volatility and purity of a material. Flash Point by ASTM D56 uses a tag manual or automated closed cup tester. A sample is placed in the closed cup and is heated. An ignition source is directed into the cup at regular intervals until the sample vapor ignites or ‘flashes.’
Sample quantity required: 150 ml
We also perform flash point testing by ASTM D3278, ASTM D92, ASTM E659, ASTM D93, and ISO 2719. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
