We perform testing by ASTM D6045 to determine the color of petroleum products such as lubricating oils, jet fuel, kerosene, diesel fuel oils, and heating oils. This test method applies to a wide variety of petroleum products such as undyed motor and aviation gasoline, aviation turbine fuels, naphthas, kerosene, diesel fuel oils, heating oils, and lubricating oils. This test uses the automatic tristimulus method. Color is an important quality characteristic, but is not always a reliable guide to product quality.
We also perform color analysis by ASTM D1500, ASTM D156, ASTM D848, IP 196, and ISO 2049.These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
