We perform testing by ASTM D6560 to determine the asphaltene content of gas oil, diesel fuel, residual fuel oils, lubricating oil, bitumen, and crude oil. High asphaltene content can cause problems during storage and handling. Because asphaltenes are the last molecules to combust completely in petroleum products, they can be an indicator of black smoke propensity.
Sample quantity required: 25 ml
ASTM D6560 corresponds to IP 143.
