We perform trace elemental (metals) analysis on diesel and other fuels by ASTM D7111 using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP). Trace elemental analysis is used to indicate the level of contamination of middle distillate fuels. Trace metals in turbine fuels can cause corrosion and deposition on turbine components at elevated temperatures. Some diesel fuels have specification limit requirements for trace metals to guard against engine deposits.
We also perform metals testing by ASTM D4951, ASTM D5185M, ASTM D7691, and EPA 6010. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
