We perform testing by ASTM D7328 to measure the sulfate and chlorides in denatured ethanol using ion chromatography (IC). Sulfates and chlorides may be found in filter plugging deposits and fuel injector deposits. Finished fuel and fuel components’ acceptability for use as automotive spark-ignition engine fuel depends on their sulfate and chloride content.
This test method covers an ion chromatographic procedure for the determination of the existent inorganic and potential sulfate and total inorganic chloride content in hydrous and anhydrous denatured ethanol to be used in motor fuel applications.
We also test for chlorides and chlorine by ASTM D4929, ASTM D808, and APL 002. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
Sample quantity required: 20 ml
