We perform the cold soak filtration test (CSFT) by ASTM D7501 to measure whether a biodiesel blend stock is suitable for low temperature performance. Some substances that are soluble in biodiesel at room temperature will congeal when cooled to temperatures above the cloud point or when standing at room temperature for extended periods. These substances can cause filter plugging. This test provides an accelerated means of assessing the presence of these substances in biodiesel, as wells as measuring their propensity to plug filters.
Cold Soak by ASTM D7501 determines whether a biodiesel blend stock that meets all other ASTM D6751 specifications is suitable for low temperature performance to at least the cloud point of the finished blend. This is determined by measuring the sample’s filtration time after cold soak.
Sample quantity required: 500 ml
