We perform testing by FTM 7502 to determine the cleaning power of solvents that have been subjected to soiled mechanical parts. This test procedure involves applying a small amount of grease to a steel coupon, which is then immersed in the solvent sample and placed in an unltrasonic cleaner maintained at up to 50C. The grease is dissolved by the solvent and removed from the steel coupon by the propagation of sonic sound. The solvent power is determined based on the time to completely remove grease from the coupon.
