SPL Expands Environmental Footprint with Acquisition of Franklin Analytical in Chambersburg, PA

December 19, 2025

CHAMBERSBURG, PA – December 10, 2025

SPL, a leading provider of energy and environmental laboratory testing, measurement, and data services, today announced it has acquired Franklin Analytical, Inc., an established environmental testing laboratory in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

This strategic acquisition expands SPL’s environmental laboratory footprint deeper into South Central Pennsylvania, strengthening local support for municipal, industrial, and consulting clients across the region with a focus on faster turnaround times and a broader menu of services.

Franklin Analytical’s Chambersburg location will continue to operate with its existing team, providing continuity in service while gaining access to SPL’s broader network, expanded capabilities, and investments in quality and turnaround time.

“Franklin Analytical has built its business on the same principles we value at SPL: exceptional service, strong client relationships, and a deep commitment to the communities they serve,” said Colin Duncan, CEO of SPL. “Bringing our teams together allows us to offer South Central Pennsylvania a powerful combination of local expertise and national-scale capabilities.”

Combining Franklin Analytical’s strong, relationship-driven client service with SPL’s nationwide platform delivers immediate benefits to customers, including:

  • Expanded Testing Capabilities: Streamlined access to SPL’s broad scope of environmental testing, including specialized services and a more extensive service menu.
  • Faster Turnaround Times: Leveraging SPL’s robust network and logistics investments to deliver analytical results more quickly.
  • Enhanced Data Access: Access to SPL’s digital tools for seamless data management.
  • Unified Quality System: All services are supported by SPL’s unified quality system, providing highly defensible and reliable data.
  • Local Continuity: The same dedicated Chambersburg team and strong customer relationships relied upon today remain in place.

The Chambersburg lab will be integrated into SPL’s Environmental Division, which includes major facilities in Reading and State College, PA, and a growing network of laboratories and service centers across North America. Clients in South Central Pennsylvania will now have streamlined access to SPL’s broad scope of environmental testing, digital tools, and field services, all supported by a unified quality system.

“Franklin Analytical’s customers will see continuity in the people and service they know, with the added benefits of SPL’s depth and scale,” said Rich Stump, Senior Vice President, Environmental at SPL. “This acquisition strengthens our ability to deliver fast, defensible data while maintaining the great service model that is so important to water and wastewater operators in this region.”

With the addition of Franklin Analytical, SPL continues to invest in regional access and local service while building a cohesive national platform for environmental testing and data services.
